Courier Driver Downtime – Your Answers!

Hello, dears!

Well, we made a rendezvous last week, and you can always trust us (or me, at least!) to keep our appointments, virtual though they may be. So here I am, and here you are – all ready for a new round of reader-interaction answers, fresh out of Gertie's mailbox!

Fortunately, aside from being a woman of my word, I also have great administration skills – which means my usual handful of favourite answers are only a click away, on a separate document, ready to be added to this one when the time comes. What this means is, by the time you're reading this, I will have added my favourite bits of insight from you lot to this piece, rather than losing them somewhere in cyberspace.

And good thing I did, too, as this was a particularly good haul of answers! If you recall, the theme for this interaction was downtime activities, specifically the ones you lot get involved in to get your mind off your day-to-day courier driver job. I predicted this could be a fascinating topic to discuss, and I wasn't wrong – so, without further ado, let's get to the answers!

'I'm a potter. Not a 'Harry' Potter, like my grandchildren like to quip, but I do 'potter' about on the old wheel of a weekend. (See? I can make puns as well!) My wife runs a small pottery business and I sometimes help make some of the items. I'm quite good at it, as well! In fact, when I get too old to be a courier driver, I believe my future may lie in selling pottery!' - Ed, Wales

'When not being a leading courier driver in my county (you all believed that, right?) I play a fantasy game called Warhammer 40.000. The rules are a bit complex to explain here, but it's basically a sort of war/army game, a bit like Risk, but with fantasy elements like in Dungeons and Dragons. Yes, I know – I'm a geek...' - Rob, Bedfordshire

'To take my mind off the physical stress of being a courier driver, I practice yoga. It's a relaxing and highly healthy activity, and I'm glad some of the stigma about it being just for women wore off, and more men are now practising it. It's a really great way to unwind and stay in shape, regardless of sex!' - Hattie, Hampshire

See what I mean? Three answers, three completely diverse hobbies, and each more interesting than the next. (I really want to try that Warhammer thing now!) And the best part was that I had so many to choose from! You lot really are the cream of the crop of Internet readership.

Until next time, dears! Ta-ra!

Gertie
