From Delivery Service Driver to TV Star

Hello, darlings!

Well, two weeks in and the quality (and quantity) of your posts is not letting up! This week, we have another very interesting story relating to courier and delivery service work, which I plucked from among the many others that were sent in. So, James from Cheshire, consider yourself lucky!

James's story concerns his cousin, who left home one day on what looked to be a regular delivery service job and returned with a great opportunity to appear on TV. Here's how it all happened, in James's own words.

'Hey Gertie,

I'm writing in to try and get into your monthly delivery service blog post thing, because I have a pretty cool one that happened to my cousin.

Gav and I used to work for the same delivery company, which was run by my uncle, his Dad. We served some pretty upmarket areas, and sometimes we ended up delivering to some famous person or another who lived around there. That's what happened to Gavin that day.

I had a delivery service up in the richest part of town, but I couldn't go because my Dad had asked me to go home early and help him with something pretty urgent. So Gav took over, and went up there to do the job instead. Now, my cousin's a pretty good-looking guy, so when he got to this guy's door, the man straight-out asked him if he'd ever thought about being on TV before! Turns out, he was an agent, and he needed people for bit parts on a new show he was involved in. Gavin knew better than to say no – I would have killed him if he did – and, as a result, he's getting quite a bit of TV work here and there. And all I can think about is... it could have been me!'

Fantastic story, James – and good on Gavin! Will he have been in something I might have seen? You'll have to write in and tell us.

The rest of you, keep those stories coming.

Ta-ra!

Gertie
