Hello, darlings!
I hope everyone is having a fab summer and not being too put off by the crazy succession of heat waves and rainy spells. Although I really don't think you will be - after all, we ARE British!
I also hope the crazy weather hasn't affected your delivery work too much. I know that with all the scorchers we've been having lately, many people would rather go to the beach than do online shopping! And, of course, rainy days are never the best to head out delivering packages. Anyhow, all that aside, I trust you've all managed to remain busy in terms of your work volume.
With all that out of the way, let's move on to the subject of today's post, which I'm actually quite excited to get to, because it may be of great interest to a lot of you out there.
Go Green, Get Rewarded!
See, my darling nephew Stevie showed me an article recently that pretty much implied that the government was going to start rewarding courier drivers and companies for 'going green' with their vehicles.
According to what the article says, owners who opt to use ultra-low emission vans could be rewarded with preferential delivery bays and other incentives. All of which could make delivery work much easier for them. Considering using this type of van also helps the environment, I would call that a win-win situation!
Before you all rush out there and try to apply, however, be warned: the article also said drivers would have to undertake a series of checks and tests, and even sign up to a few programs to prove they are meeting the standards required to gain these incentives. In other words, it's not enough to just bob up and SAY you're doing eco-friendly delivery work – these people want you to SHOW it! And fair enough too.
Even still, if you think you are doing delivery work in an environmentally friendly way, why not look into this? It may end up actually helping you!
If it does though, don't forget to credit your old Auntie Gertie for the hot tip! Just kidding!
Until next time,
Ta-ra!
- Gertie
