Are Self-Employed Courier Jobs Good Summer Jobs?

Hello, my dears!

I hope this week finds you well. I've certainly been in a good mood. I'm happy to report my sunburn has gone away (all it took was a little soothing cream) and I've gone back to enjoying afternoons in the garden – with sunblock this time around!

It was while I was lounging in the yard the other day that I got the inspiration for this week and next week's posts. You see, while I was soaking up the sun, a young lad who lives down my road stopped by to ask if my neighbour was in. I knew she wasn't, and he seemed a bit hot and sweaty, so I invited him in for a glass of apple juice. Turns out, he had just started doing self-employed courier jobs to earn money to go to pay his uni fees! I was quite impressed – it certainly beats flipping burgers! Although, I suppose the fact that his father is a courier (one of my nephew's old colleagues, in fact) may have had something to do with his choice of summer job as well...

One thing is for sure, though: just like that, I had a topic for my next reader discussion. That young boy had given it to me!

So what topic is that, you may ask? Simple. This week, I want to hear from the parents out there. Especially parents with children who drive or will be driving shortly (although the rest of you can participate too, obviously!) I want you to tell me if you think self-employed courier jobs make for good summer jobs for young people. Would you let YOUR kids do them during the summer holidays? Why, or why not? What benefits do you think they bring to school and university-aged young people?

So give me your opinion: self-employed courier jobs for young people, yes or no?

I shall await your replies with bated breath, as always.

Until then, ta-ra!

Gertie
