Hello, my sweethearts!

As you all know, Christmas is only a month away, and I have already started to feel it in the air. Now that all the silly old Halloween nonsense is behind us, everybody is getting ready to welcome Father Christmas. Now, when you go into shops, instead of pumpkins and ghosts and witches, you get snowflakes and Christmas trees and snowmen – which, in my opinion, is not at all a change for the worse!

Of course, with Christmas time comes Christmas shopping – and I know a lot of dears who leave everything to the last minute. For them, and for all the people who use Amazon and eBay and all those new and confusing methods of shopping, these three weeks will surely be a rather stressful time, what with placing orders and waiting for them to arrive, and hoping everything is all right. I would scarcely be able to bear it! That is why I prefer to start my Christmas shopping somewhere around August – but to each their own, I suppose.

Someone who has had their hands full with Christmas deliveries lately is my nephew Steven. I know I have been talking about him a lot lately, but I cannot help it – he comes around quite often, and always has such interesting things to tell, that he leaves me no choice but to come here and share them with you all!

The other day, for example, as he was tucking into his bacon and eggs before a long journey to Stoke, he told me that the company he is subcontracted to is offering literally thousands of self employed courier jobs to cover the Christmas season. Apparently, because of the number of people ordering from Amazon and eBay and all those places, the volume of parcels becomes too much to handle, and they need to bulk up their workforce a little. It makes perfect sense, actually.

I was quite intrigued by this information – as some of you may know, I have thought about dabbling in parcel delivery more than once – and so I asked dear Stevie just what the requirements were to obtain one of these self employed courier jobs. To my surprise, he told me they are taking in all manner of people, as long as they have their own means of transportation. You do not even need to have experience! Personally, I would have thought that, with the Christmas rush, delivery companies would want to make sure their drivers had at least a little experience, but I suppose, as the old saying goes, 'beggars can't be choosers'...

At any rate, I would recommend that those among you who have a little free time this holiday season and could do with a little extra money look into getting themselves self employed courier jobs. You can make your own schedule, you do not need experience, and you can make yourself a nice little extra bit of pocket money. Who knows, maybe I will give my senses a little time off and try my hand at it myself...time will tell!

For now, my darlings, ta-ra!
