Hello, my darlings!
I hope everyone is ready for a post full of gushing excitement, because I have some big news! The biggest courier job related event of the year is coming – and old Gertie is attending. I feel like Cinderella!
That's right, as a trade-off for letting him take over my blog last week (I hope he didn't bore you to tears, by the way!) my dear Stevie has invited me to come with him to the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Awards! That's right – the courier job version of the BAFTAs, and I'm going to be there!
Now, if you've ever been to this event – and I'm sure at least some of you have – you probably know exactly why I'm so excited. Me, at a black tie affair in a five-star hotel - don't I feel fancy right now!
Get Ready for the Party!
In fairness, though, I might not be feeling so excited if I was having to deal with everything regarding booking and so on. My darling Stevie has taken care of all that, and I couldn't be more thankful. I was looking over his shoulder and it all got a bit too overwhelming for me. Though perhaps that was just because I could barely contain my excitement, even then! To be fair, the process wasn't any different than booking a seat at a restaurant or a concert – all Stevie did was send the lady in charge an e-mail saying he worked in the courier job industry and wanted to be present at the do with a plus one. He gave them a call, too, just to follow up. Nothing too out of the ordinary - it's just the fact that I was almost hyperventilating at the time that made it seem that way!
It all worked out in the end, though, and I'll be there rubbing elbows with anyone who's anyone in the world of delivery. I'd better curb my enthusiasm, though as the awards aren't until November. If I keep up this level of excitement until then I might just blow up and pop like a balloon!
Right – I'm going to go do something to calm myself down – perhaps work out what I'm going to wear. That's a whole different story though. Have a look at the link I put in up there and maybe it'll get you excited enough to attend as well. If you do – look out for me and come and say hi!
See you next week, dears – if I don't melt into a puddle in the meantime.
Ta-ra!
