Courier Jobs and Taekwon-Do

Written by Gertie | 08-May-2013 15:01:00

Hello darlings!

Today I have a rather unusual post to share with you all. You see, one of you out there sent me a very peculiar e-mail, pointing out a similarity he'd found between courier jobs, like his own, and one of his hobbies! Without further ado, Nick from Sheffield, tell us what you found.

“Hey Gertie – I'm a long-time fan of your blog, but this is my first time writing in.”

Well, welcome, dear!

“The reason I'm writing is because of something I figured out. It's a bit silly, which is why I didn't write to anywhere else about it, but I thought I'd share it with you and your readers, because I know you won't make fun.”

Darling, we would never!

“Anyway, this has to do with something I, and a lot of your readers, have - courier jobs – and something I do as a hobby, Taekwon-Do. If you don't know what that is, it's a Korean martial art ruled by five tenements, or principles. This page will tell you more about it. And what I found is that those principles can easily apply to courier jobs. Want proof? That's what I'm here for.

The Five Principles Of Taekwon-Do

Courtesy – I shouldn't have to explain why this one applies to courier jobs – or any other jobs. Do unto others, and all that.

Integrity – Again, self-explanatory. You should have integrity in every aspect of your life, not just your job.

Perseverance - Courier jobs aren't always the easiest or most pleasant – sometimes, you need an iron will to get through a day!

Self-Control – Useful for dealing with those rude customers, or for getting through the harder days. Keep your cool, always.

Indomitable Spirit – Like I said above, you need a good dose of spirit when you're doing courier jobs for a living. Don't be too much of a wild buck, though – mind your "Courtesy and Self-Control"!

So there you have it, Gertie. Just something that dawned on me the other day. I feel a little silly sharing it, but there you go. Keep up the good work – Nick, Sheffield”

Oh, love, you don't need to feel silly! That makes perfect sense, and you made it such a good read! I'm sure everyone agrees, don't you, dears?
