Hello, my dears!
Well, it seems as though we have been blessed with a late spell of summertime weather – and I, for one, am not complaining! In keeping with the lighthearted, relaxed spirit the warm weather tends to bring, I thought we might do something a little different – but equally as fun – to see out the summer.
What is this exciting new project, I hear you ask? Well, it is a little something I have decided to call 'Life Of A Courier Driver.' What it is, is basically a semi-interactive thing where we will explore all the different anecdotes and happenings that take place in the day-to-day life of a haulage or courier driver.
"But Gertie", I hear you scream, "You barely have any experience as a courier!" To that I say simply: I know. You didn't think I would be taking this on on my own, did you? Much to the contrary, I have requested the services of a specialist – none other than my favourite (and only) nephew, Steven. Those who have been reading my blog for any length of time know that Stevie works as a self-employed courier driver, which means he has stories to tell and adventures to talk about almost every single day! Throughout this month, I'll be giving him the reins of this blog of ours, so expect the next few first-person accounts to come from a 30-something-year-old man, rather than your dear Aunt Gertie.
But Stevie will not be the only one taking the proverbial 'hot seat' this month, oh heavens no! I want you, my darlings, to chip in as well! I know many, if not most, of you work in this sector, so I'm sure you will be able to contribute with some anecdotes and facts about being a courier driver that will complement Stevie's. What do you say? Will you help old Gertie? What a question – of course you will! Send your stories to the usual address, and Stevie and myself will have a look and pick our favourites.
