Hello, my darlings!
Well...you know what I'm going to say in this part of the post, don't you? I don't even need to start. "Amazing answers; you lot really came through; this is why I love doing reader interactions with you people," and so on and so forth. It feels as though I say this every other week and, while it does bear repeating, I'm sure at some point it gets tiresome!
That's why, this particular time around, I'm going to skip all of that (although not really, because I sort of said it anyway) and get straight to the point of this post: your answers to the topic I gave you last time.
Now, if you recall, in last week's post, I asked you to tell me what things you would add (or subtract) from courier jobs if you had power over the field, in an ideal world. I told you this did not need to stick to any realistic expectations or even be doable in the 'real' world – we were working from an Utopian scenario, so you could let your imaginations go wild and come up with all sorts of fun stuff. And oh my, did you ever!
What I liked best about this week's answers was that you lot not only kept to the 'brief' (if you could call something fun like this a 'brief') but you expanded on it. You not only gave me innovations that you would add to the field of courier jobs, but also talked about some things you would do away with, if you could! The answers are so good that I feel guilty taking up any more space, so take it away, fellows!
'What I would add to courier jobs? Easy – flying cars! Remember when people thought those would be a thing? I'm old enough to have watched the Jetsons and young enough to have read news about how by the turn of the millennium we would have cars that could fly. So far, no luck – but apparently that type of news item is still being written. Can you imagine if those actually existed, though? Every time you saw a traffic jam, you could just press a button, lift off into the air, and avoid it! Then again, most companies would probably be too cheap to get flying cars for their fleet...but this is an ideal world, so then again, maybe not!' - Dan, Yorkshire
'I would not add, but remove – rude and impatient customers! I'm sure this is a constant bugbear for anyone working in customer service, but with courier jobs it's particularly bad, because most of the time there's nothing we can do about the delivery being late – it's usually due to stuff that's out of our control. So yes, if I could, I'd just make certain customers nicer!' - Annie, Cornwall
'Teleportation powers! Going from anywhere to anywhere else within, like, a second. Never be late with a delivery again!' - Joe, Essex.
That seems as good of a note as any on which to end another great fan interaction – thank you for being the most darling readers on the whole of the Internet! (Did you read that, Bill?)
Until next week, ta-ra!
Gertie
