The Plug-In Van Grant: A Useful Aid For Self Employed Couriers

Hello, my dears!

My, do I love it when I get to give people good news. That's not a question, it's a statement because, yes, I do - it really does warm the cockles of my heart!

And today I definitely have some good news. It's not just that spring has finally arrived, although that is good news in and of itself; what I am talking about, though, is a bit of information I found that I think might be really useful for people whose work involves self employed courier jobs. Since I know that applies to a large portion of my readers I thought I'd share this with you sooner rather than later.

Plug In to the Plug-In Van Grant

This important information has to do with a government grant that was created for, and can be claimed by, people who work in courier jobs - particularly those who are self employed.

Fittingly enough it is called the Plug-In Van Grant, and it applies to fully electric and hybrid vans - including vehicles with 'normal' engines that were converted before they were registered. The only criterion is that the van has to be new (registered for the first time) for the driver to be eligible for the grant.

According to the Gov.UK page relating to the grant, the Plug-In bursary is meant to be claimed by vehicle manufacturers. However, if you read the text on the page itself, it's clear that individual drivers can apply for this scheme too – which is precisely why I've decided to share it. I understand that self employed drivers need all the help they can get to help with running costs, and this grant could offer the perfect chance for these couriers to come into a little bit of extra money  - a bit of a bonus to help with running costs alongside the money they earn from courier jobs.

Give it a Go…

So, as you might expect, my advice to my readers is that sign up for the programme (if it applies to you, of course), using the email on that page I linked to. After all, what have you got to lose and you just might score yourself a little leg-up to help with the daily maintenance of your van. No-brainer, if you ask me!

See you here next week and let me know how you go.

Ta-ra!
