Hello, my darlings!

You will excuse Aunt Gertie for taking a holiday today, now won't you? It's just that with the warm weather and sunshine, I really don't have a lot of ideas for posts at the moment. Which is why I am resorting to that most honoured of filling techniques, the fan letter.

Finding Owner Driver Jobs - Top Advice!

Hello again, my darlings!

If you recall, last week, I showed a massive chink in my armour by admitting that I needed help finding owner driver jobs for my nephew, who just decided to start his own company. I reached out to you, my readers, and explained that I was far from an authority on the matter, despite what my posts for the past however many months have led you to believe. Then, I sat back and waited for the scathing comments to begin.

Hello, my dears!

It's that time of the year that some call the Silly Season, so I thought I'd come up here with a silly post to – hopefully – put a smile on your faces! See, while most of you were at the beach or visiting family or abroad or what have you, one of my readers was busy drawing up a comparison between self-employed courier jobs like his own and – of all things! - roleplaying games! And the most fascinating thing is, he absolutely has a point! So I've decided to make him the star of today's post – which also works for me, because now I can go down to the beach a half-hour earlier than usual! Whoo! The stage is yours, Ben from Devonshire!

Posted by Gertie on 16-Aug-2013 09:51:11

Hello, darlings!

For today's post, I hope you don't mind if I go into 'advice mode' again. I know I come across as a boring old bag telling you things you already know, but I can't help it, dears – it's in my nature! So bear with me a little longer, would you?

At any rate, I think today's topic for advice is a little less obvious and general than the last – this time, I'll be talking specifically about courier work for owner drivers, where to find it and how to go about making sure you get it. Those of you who aren't owner drivers may not find much to chew on here, but who knows? You may decide to take these tips and apply them to your own profession or line of work! It's never a bad thing to expand your horizons...

Hello, my dears!

My, but it's been an exciting month so far! If you recall, last time, we had an exclusive here on my blog – a reader who was writing a song about his experiences as a courier. This week, we are lucky enough to have another 'first', as I have managed to get my very first interview!

Hello, darlings!

Before we begin today, let me tell you a little secret: sometimes I'm a little jealous of my friend Bill. You know Bill – he runs the Bill's Truck Stop blog and also talks about deliveries, although his involve lorries rather than bicycles or small vans. And he always posts the most fab-u-lous things his readers send in! I mean, his fan base is not as smashing as mine, of course – of course not, darlings! - but he does showcase some pretty interesting reader contributions now and again. I used to be a little envious of that – 'well jel', as you young ones say - but no more. Because the other night, I got a piece of reader mail that can rival anything old Bill posts!
