Well – wasn’t that quite the surprise! I always expect a lot of participation whenever I launch one of these fan-interaction thingies, but if you’ve read any of the ones I’ve published in the past, you know I usually have lots of opposite points of view to compare to make the debate interesting.

Whoo! We made it through that spell of bad weather at long last, didn’t we? I must confess, while it was going on, I feared for the safety of some of you – I do hope your employers did not force you to do any courier work during that week when Old Albion turned into a gigantic pond! (For those of you who are self-employed, I hope you did not have the ‘brilliant’ idea of going on any delivery runs, either – safety first, my dears!)

This is one of those very, very rare posts where we have a change of plans (mostly because there is no plan to begin with, but there you have it!). The thing is, as eagle-eyed viewers might have spotted at the end of the last post, I was planning to do a fan interaction segment, where we discussed the importance of road safety for both corporate and self employed courier jobs. But as I was getting ready to start fielding your entries (which I was sure would be plenty, and were!) I got a very kind offer that I could not refuse.

Today I’m bringing you a slightly more reflexive post. You see, during the course of my day at the cafe, I serve a lot of people. And because I serve a lot of people, I obviously hear a lot of things. And one of the things I hear more often is customers complaining either about their owner driver jobs or about how people who have those kinds of jobs can’t do them properly.

See, my nephew Steven (who some of you may have heard of) came over for dinner the other night, and we ended up talking about owner driver jobs. Stevie isn’t getting as much work as he would like at the moment, unfortunately. That got me (and him) thinking about potential reasons why itis happening.
