Hello, darlings!

Today we will be talking about career alternatives for people with self-employed courier jobs. You know, things they would be qualified or skilled for should their career go bottoms-up for some reason. While we did something similar a while back, it got such a huge response I thought it needed an update. This is not what my darlings think of this subject (although I do care what you think, you know that!), but rather a few ideas that old Gertie came up with herself.

So, here we are as always...the post after the last one 

Now, if you recall, last time I asked you to share your most challenging moments working on self-employed courier jobs. After I had written and posted the request, I began to worry that the subject might be a little too personal to share openly with the other readers – I wouldn’t have blamed you if you didn’t want to tell me your most vulnerable memories of working your self-employed courier jobs!

I thought we would kick off this month in the best possible way and have ourselves one of our little reader interaction things. Those are always fun, right? So I set my mind to thinking, trying to figure out what we could talk about. Unfortunately for me and for you lot, inspiration just wasn’t high, and I couldn’t come up with anything, so I decided to turn on the TV. And what was the first thing I saw? Some poor dear who’s been involved in an accident. And then the reporters said he was an independent man-and-van operator. Suddenly I had the subject for my next post!

This is turning out to be an excellent month for posts! After we had a very fun (but also very serious) reader interaction and a wild (but somehow also sensible) reader theory, this week we have an inspiring story from a reader, whose self-employed courier jobs helped her run a marathon!

Some days, I love this ‘job’. You all know how much I like when you darlings give me amazing answers to my fan-question thingies, but another great aspect of being a blogger is getting the kind of message I’ll be reproducing here today. Using this sort of imagination in a message that will probably not even get published only proves how much you like old Gertie and this blog!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love how dedicated and responsive my fan base is. I know a lot of people say this, and most of them are talking out of a certain place, but I mean it. The posts where I ask you something and get tonnes of interesting answers right away are by far my favourite, which is why I try to do them as often as possible. (That, and the blogging manual said to do them if you want to get famous! Just kidding...)

I was thinking the other day about what a self-centred month this is turning out to be for old Gertie. First I brag about how long I’ve been doing the blog for, then about giving an interview, then I post a bunch of messages praising me...simply dreadful, isn’t it? That was why I was determined to close out Unbirthday Month with something fun that would put the spotlight back on you or, alternatively, on the issues that matter to you, such as owner driver jobs.
